Coronation Street teases truth about how Les Battersby died in Chesney twist
Coronation Street aired sad news on Friday as Les Battersby was killed off offscreen on the ITV soap, but spoilers have teased a new twist with his stepson Chesney Brown
There could be a death twist airing very soon on Coronation Street, following the news on Friday that Les Battersby had died.
The icon was killed off in heartbreaking scenes, with daughters Leanne and Toyah left devastated. They soon relayed the information to Les’ stepson Chesney Brown and he too was in shock.
The police knocked at Leanne’s door to bring the sad news that her father had been killed at work, with him working at an abattoir. They didn’t go into detail about what happened or how he died with it still seemingly being looked into.
As Leanne, Toyah and Chesney later spoke of their memories of Les, they couldn’t believe he was gone. Towards the end of the episode Chesney broke down in tears as he spoke to a photo of Les, and grieved his estranged stepfather.
But a new spoiler hints there could be more to his death with a potential cover-up under way. So has Les been murdered, or was someone intentionally or unintentionally behind the death of the soap legend?
It could be the case as Chesney is alarmed by a discovery next week during Les’ will reading. As he gathers with his step-siblings and sister Fiz Brown, there’s an announcement. They are told that the abattoir where Les worked has offered £50k in compensation for his death.

There’s one condition though, and they must all sign an NDA. Is it to avoid word getting out to protect the company, or could someone be trying to cover their tracks?
It’s certainly hinted there is more to Les’ death though, and something has yet to be revealed. Someone who is suspicious over this is Chesney, and he could take action – but will he face danger?
After the will reading, Chesney shares his fears with mother-in-law Bernie Winter. He tells her all about the compensation and the NDA he’s expected to sign with the others.
Bernie encourages him to look into the death, with her also convinced there could be more to the accident that killed Les. She tells Chesney to do some digging, but what will he find and what really happened to Les?
Some viewers suggested it was “too convenient” that he randomly died at work with little information on what happened to him. Others wondered if the mystery was tied to the other odd plot going on with Chesney, with him having run-ins with a mystery van driver.
