Coronation Street reveals lifeline for Simon Barlow in crash story

Sam agrees to help.

Coronation Street Soap Scoop! Murder investigation on the cobbles

Coronation Street‘s Simon Barlow gets some last-minute support in Monday’s episode (March 11) ahead of his important court appearance.

Simon is bracing himself for his punishment after confessing to crashing a car while drink-driving.

The incident occurred last month as Nick Tilsley asked Simon to drive Sam Blakeman to his chess competition.

Simon got behind the wheel despite being over the legal alcohol limit, placing himself and Sam in danger. When Simon crashed the vehicle, he fled from the scene alongside Sam to avoid facing the police.

Despite this, Simon later accepted that he’d been drinking too much and that he needed to take responsibility, so he headed to the police station to hand himself in.

In Monday’s episode, Simon and his family are all nervous over his imminent court appearance. However, Simon tells his mum Leanne Battersby that he’s ready for whatever punishment the magistrate gives him as he deserves it.

Leanne considers some last-minute ways to help her son and is intrigued when solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey suggests securing character references in his favour.

Before long, Sam agrees to write one for Simon – proving that there are no hard feelings after what happened. Could this be enough to secure a more lenient punishment for Simon?

Corrie‘s latest scenes come as the soap prepares to explore a cult storyline involving Simon and Leanne.

When Simon decides to seek guidance from a self-help organisation called The Institute, group mentor Rowan Cunliffe takes a special interest in him and Leanne.

Ben Price, who plays Nick, recently told us: “It happens, so I think it’s very topical. Look how many things are on Netflix about this.

“I think what’s good about the story is that actually, it doesn’t take much for you to start believing something.”
