Huge Coronation Street star sensationally QUITS after 15 years as their explosive exit date is revealed
The star will bow out with an explosive storyline this summer
CORRIE star Alex Bain is quitting after 15 years playing Simon Barlow.
He landed the role as a seven-year-old and shocked fans in 2018 when he revealed he was becoming a teenage dad in real life.
Now 22, Alex, will bow out with an explosive storyline this summer.
A source said: “Alex is sad to be leaving Coronation Street because it really is like a family — but he realises that the time is right to move on.
“He’s very excited about the future and other opportunities.”
Alex’s then-girlfriend Levi Selby gave birth shortly after her 16th birthday to daughter Lydia-Rose. Alex — 16 when Levi fell pregnant — was 17 and had only just sat his GCSE exams.
He has been involved in a string of controversial Corrie storylines and won the British Soap Award for Best Young Actor in 2011.
He was joined on stage by Chris Gascoigne, who plays his dad Peter Barlow.
The Sun revealed in the summer that Peter will be seen leaving on tonight’s episode.
Insiders said that Chris was just taking an extended break after 23 years on the ITV show.
