The court case against evil bully Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) is looming on Coronation Street – and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) is feeling particularly nervous.
Of course appearing in court is stressful for anyone, but for Dylan he has Mason’s most recent threat hanging over him. Mason tricked Dylan into meeting him and then told him that if he didn’t retract his statement before the court hearing Sean (Antony Cotton) would get a beating.
As the day of the trial dawns, Dylan has packed up a rucksack and heads out of the hotel where he’s been staying with his mum, Violet (Jenny Platt), who intends to take him back to London with her as soon as the trial is over.
Violet is frantic to discover that her son is missing and heads over to Coronation Street to tell Sean. Meanwhile Gary (Mikey North) and Maria (Samia Longchambon) are in the bistro with Liam (Charlie Wrenshall), having breakfast and trying to bolster Liam’s confidence for the hearing.
Sean and Violet rush in and explain that Dylan is missing. As Gary offers to help look for Dylan, Liam heads home.
A waiting Dylan pulls him into the ginnel and tells him that Mason threatened him. Dylan’s idea is they should both do a runner so they don’t have to go to court and face Mason.
Facing his nemesis at court isn’t the only thing weighing on Dylan’s mind, as he’s about to say his goodbyes to Weatherfield. When Violet found out how much trouble her son has got into, she was furious with Sean and accused him of being a bad parent. She strongly felt that she should take Dylan back to London to live with her.
Sean is distraught about this and again he begs her to reconsider, but Violet’s mind is firmly made up. There’s an emotional goodbye between father and son, and then Violet and Dylan head for the tram station.
Dylan tells Violet he doesn’t want to leave as he knows he’s hurt a lot of people in Weatherfield and he wants to have the opportunity to put things right and make amends.
Will Violet have a last minute change of heart and allow Dylan to stay with Sean?
