Corrie icon has two famous children including soap star who appeared on cobbles with her
Debbie Rush played Anna Windass on Coronation Street and it turns out two of her kids have followed in her footsteps to become soap stars - with one even appearing on Corrie
A Coronation Street legend has two famous children – and one even appeared on the ITV soap.
Actress Debbie Rush shot to fame playing Anna Windass on the ITV soap – making her debut in 2008. And it’s fair to say, Anna played a part in several big storylines.
From her feud with the Platt family to being wrongfully imprisoned, her time in Weatherfield was not short of drama. However, in 2017, Debbie left fans gutted when she confirmed she had quit the soap after nine years.

In a statement, she said: “I have had an amazing nine years on Coronation Street and the decision to leave was not made lightly. I love playing Anna and will miss working with the fantastic cast and crew.”
Since then, Debbie has kept herself busy. In 2019, she appeared in the Sky comedy Brassic, and more recently, she bagged a role in the 2024 ITV thriller, Passenger, alongside the likes of Matilda Freeman and Jack James Ryan.
However, away from screens, Debbie is happily married and has three children. And it turns out two of her kids have followed in their acting mum’s footsteps.
Since 1989, Debbie has been married to Andrew. The couple share three children Tom, Poppy and William. And it seems two of her kids got the acting bug of their famous mum.
William Rush, 19, is a British actor and is probably best known for his role in the BBC One drama series Waterloo Road. The teen played Josh Stevenson from 2009 to 2013.
As well as Waterloo Road, William also had stints in Shameless, Grange Hill and Vera. What’s more, back in 2014 he even appeared on his mum’s soap Corrie.
Playing Ian, William appeared in just one episode of the much-loved soap – at the same time his mum was still on the show.
What’s more, in 2016, his profile was elevated further when he auditioned for series 13 of The X Factor. William made it through to the six-chair challenge of the show – before getting the boot.
Meanwhile, Debbie’s daughter Poppy has also pursued a career in acting. Like her mum, she’s starred in soaps including a rival one to Corrie. The singer and actor played Sophie Dodd in EastEnders in 2016 – making her first appearance in January that year.
The character was best pals with Kyle Slater, who is the brother of Stacey (Lacey Turner). Sophie’s last appearance in the soap was in May. Poppy also appeared in Mount Pleasant, Love Matters and Jinx.
