Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon teases ‘huge’ storyline for Bethany Platt – and it doesn’t involve Lauren
Bethany Platt returned to the cobbles earlier this year and fans know she's due to be involved in Lauren's disappearance. But bosses have another trick up their sleeves for her.
Lucy Fallon is cementing her dramatic return to Coronation Street with another huge storyline of her own about to get underway while the search for Lauren Bolton continues.
Fans of the ITV drama may remember that Bethany Platt will be involved in the hunt for the wayward teen. But during a recent chat with Inside Soap, the actress, 28, lifted the lid on another surprise “huge plot” for her character.
The mother-of-one revealed that filming for the new storyline is due to begin but remained tight-lipped as she reminded: “Bethany’s involved in the storyline surrounding Lauren’s disappearance.” She then added: “but there’s another huge plot coming up for her that we haven’t started filming. I’m really excited.”
Bethany Platt made her way back to Weatherfield late last year after taking a step back in 2020 to focus on other projects and welcome her son Sonny, whom she shares with her footballers partner Ryan Ledson.
Upon her comeback, the character immediately bedded her ex, Daniel Osbourne (portrayed by Rob Mallard), causing a stir between him and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan). The rivalry between both women then took a turn when Bethany wrote an article about the barmaid’s horrific stalking ordeal.
In more recent weeks, Bethany then rumbled that Daisy and her stepmother Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) stole money from Carla Connor (Alison King) to reopen the Rovers Return Inn.
But off-screen, viewers of the Manchester-based drama have grown increasingly suspicious she may be confronted with former fiancé Nathan Curtis as Lauren’s disappearance storyline has ignited fears he may also return to get revenge on Bethany.
Nathan, who was portrayed by Christopher Harper from 2017 until his exit in 2018, was the exploitative manager of Supreme Tanning and embroiled Bethany in a hard-hitting trafficking storyline.
After trying to keep the sixteen-year-old sweet by proposing to her and handing her over to his pals to clear his own debts, Nathan was arrested in an explosive showdown which took place in the midst of one of his parties – and while Bethany was being assaulted by three other men.

Bethany remained under 35-year-old Nathan’s grasp for months before she realised she had been taken advantage of and she testified against him. The villain was handed a custodial sentence at the Weatherfield Crown Court, along with his copper pal Neil, who assaulted Bethany.
Seven years passed since the storyline was aired and Lauren’s disappearance has reminded Corrie fans that even the most villainous of characters are never truly gone from the cobbles. Many viewers are increasingly convinced that history may have repeated itself with Nathan and Lauren.
The troublemaker played by Cait Fitton, decided to leave Weatherfield after being sacked from her job at local café Roy’s Rolls but when her love interest Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) paid her a visit, he found her flat wrecked and abandoned.
Since then, beloved café owner Roy Cropper (David Neilson), Lauren’s former boss, has been suspected of harming the teen, particularly as he was caught cleaning her flat… and potentially getting rid of crucial evidence that could help save her.
In another twist, blood was found in Lauren’s flat by Sean Tully, who was home-hunting after being kicked out by Eileen Grimshaw from No.11. Authorities have since launched a murder investigation as they have little hopes of finding Lauren alive – and Roy is their number one suspect.
