Dancing On Ice’s most surprising romances after Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton share ‘secret dates’
There might be more skating sweethearts than you realise
DANCING On Ice stars battle it out in freezing cold climes in one of reality TV’s most dare-devil shows.
Yet there’s also romance to be found on the rink, too.
Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton – stars of the 2024 series – were this week spotted enjoying a string of sweet dates.
Yet they’re not the only Dancing On Ice alumni to find love – here we take a look the new duo as well as a few more skating sweethearts.
Claire Sweeney and Ricky Hatton
We exclusively reported how former Brookside actress Claire, 52, was seen cuddling the former boxer, 45, as they stepped out in Manchester.
The duo had their arms wrapped around each other – with the Liverpudlian lass looking elegant in an LBD.
Sports ace Ricky was seen carrying two bottles of champagne as they headed from one pub onto the next.
We then told how the pair have been secretly dating for months as pals claimed “they have spark.”
A source told us: “They became friends on Dancing On Ice and really hit it off.
“It’s since become romantic and they’ve enjoyed a few dates. It’s early days but they’ve got a spark and have been having a great time.”
It came after neither star saw huge success on the show.
Ricky was booted out on week one while Corrie star Claire made it to week three.
David Seaman and Frankie Poultney
Ex England footballer David, 60, saw sparks fly with figure skater Frankie, 51, back in 2008.
In 2007, Frankie was partnered with David’s pal Lee Sharpe on her debut year on Dancing On Ice, a year after his own stint on the show.
Yet romance came 12 months later on the show’s live tour.
The pair now live together in a pad in Berkshire and married in 2015.
Former goalie David previously told us: “The attraction was there straight away, as obviously it needs to be – and that attraction is still there right now.”
After 16 years, the pair have managed to keep the flame alive – and have even claimed spending more time together during lockdown was a blessing.
David added: “We make each other laugh every day and we have a great time together.
“In lockdown, we had a fantastic time starting some home projects, lots of DIY, and I even learned to bake sourdough.”
Samia Longchambon and Sylvain Longchambon
Sylvain, 43, has proved a fan-favourite on the ITV skating competition.
The show also introduced him to his now-wife Samia Longchambon, 41, back in 2013.
They were partnered together – with Sylvain then calling off his relationship with Hollyoaks’ Jen Metcalfe in order to follow his feelings for the Coronation Street star.
Samia and Sylvain later tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in August 2016.
The couple had confirmed their engagement in May 2015.
A source told The Sun at the time that the “romantic ceremony” was held at Take That star Gary Barlow’s old home, Delamere Manor, in Cheshire.
