Coronation Street's Roy Cropper actor David Neilson may have let slip his character's fate on the ITV soap after he was charged with Lauren Bolton's murder
Coronation Street fans may have been given a major hint regarding Roy Cropper’s future on the ITV soap.
While it could be nothing, something noticeable in actor David Neilson’s recent This Morning interview could tease Roy’s fate. It could well hint at an exit being on the cards for the soap legend, or that Roy will spend quite a while behind bars.
It’s not known when the interview was filmed, but it seemed to be quite recently. In the chat, David was asked by This Morning’s Sharon Marshall about the storyline that has seen Roy charged with the murder of Lauren Bolton.
Amid fans desperate for justice for Roy, and Lauren’s fate not known, David discussed the plot and what was ahead. But during the chat, David showed off a completely different look to that of his character Roy.
David had facial hair growing, with stubble around his chin and cheeks. Roy has never had a beard on the show, so could this be a hint that Roy has left the show or hasn’t been filming for a while?
Perhaps actor David has taken some time out and has grown the beard while he’s not on set. With it unlike Roy to have facial hair, maybe Roy has left the show or is away in prison with David not currently filming.
Perhaps it could be a way of showing a changed Roy, undergoing a transformation while he’s in prison. With filming around six weeks in advance, could this suggest Roy is still behind bars in the coming weeks and months? Viewers will have to stay tuned to find out if it’s just something of nothing, or if it’s a major clue to Roy’s fate.
Talking about Roy’s predicament and the storyline, David had a five-word response. The soap legend, who has been on the cobbles since 1995, said: “He’s his own worst enemy!”
David added: “I mean, he needs support from himself, he puts himself there. I’m amazed that I [Roy] haven’t been in prison before because everyone else [Coronation Street characters] have!” It comes as Roy could find himself “tricked into confessing” to Lauren’s murder in a sick twist next week.
