Carla Connor (Alison King) snapped at Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) in Friday’s (April 19) episode of Coronation Street, annoyed at his and Max Turner’s (Paddy Bever) constant interference in Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder investigation.
One of the main focuses of this storyline has been other people spreading rumours and believing they’re capable of solving the crime themselves. We’ve seen multiple sleuths record social media videos about Roy Cropper (David Neilson), and have heard a lot of other people offering their opinion on the situation and what really happened to Lauren.
Two people heavily involved in this part of the plot are Bobby and Max. They used to be friends with Lauren prior to her disappearance and obviously want to know the truth, but they both – for some reason – think it’s their responsibility to try and help the police with gathering evidence, rather than leave them to do their job.
While sharing theories may seem like a good idea to Bobby and Max, all they’re really doing is spreading false information.
In tonight’s instalment of the ITV soap, Bobby and Max spotted Daniel (Rob Mallard) talking to Nicky Wheately (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) and another lady at the precinct.
We met Nicky a few years ago when Daniel was struggling with his grief after Sinead’s death. They built up a complicated relationship due to how much Nicky looked like Sinead.
Now, Nicky and Daniel remain friends. When they met up at the precinct, Daniel and Nicky discussed the prospect of Lauren working as an escort, unaware Max and Bobby were recording their exchange.
Of course, it wasn’t long until Max had got back in contact with DS Swain (Vicky Myers) with the footage of Daniel with two former sex workers.
It didn’t look good for Daniel but also, this latest move certainly damaged Max and Bobby’s reputations.
At the flat, when Carla learnt about Bobby and Max’s interference, she was livid. Let’s not forget that also at the centre of this is Carla’s friend Roy being wrongly imprisoned for a crime.
The thought of Bobby and Max making things worse and potentially wasting police time made her snap.
She called the duo ‘toxic’ and said they need to back off.
But will Bobby listen?
