There’s a huge shock in store for Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) in upcoming Coronation Street scenes as beloved pooch Freddie is dognapped.
Freddie first bound onto our screens last year when Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was forced to take him in following the death of his bat enthusiast friend Melvyn.
A complete novice to caring for hounds, the café owned decided it would be best if he co-parented the Shih Tzu with best pal Evelyn.
In upcoming scenes, youngster Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) offers to walk Freddie to help out after learning Roy is facing murder charges.
Earlier this week, he was brought in for further questioning relating to the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and later refused bail – meaning he’ll be banged up until whenever the trial takes place.
As Sam heads out, he doesn’t realise that one of the cruel trolls victimising Roy online is sat watching from the corner.
Later, news arrives on Victoria Street that the dog has ran off and Asha suggests posting photos online for his safe return.
However, as the above spoiler video reveals, things take a sinister twist.
As Nina opens up her phone, she discovers that the sleuth has cruelly taken Freddie and uploaded a video to ClipHop (Corrie’s version of TikTok) of him trapped inside of a crate.
The cruel dognapper says he discovered him digging up a rose bed in a local park and comments that ‘maybe he found one of Lauren’s bones.’
He then goes on to say that he won’t give Freddie back until Roy confesses.
The story will later lead on to Toyah Habeeb’s (Georgia Taylor) fears that her biggest secret has been exposed.
Learning that the sleuths are digging up the spot where Freddie was found, she panics and later confesses that she buried a stillborn baby there after being raped in 2001.
The plot line looks set to be one of the ITV soap’s most controversial, with many fans and even a former co-star already calling for bosses to boycott the scenes before broadcast.
