Scandalous affair ‘confirmed’ in Coronation Street as things heat up for controversial couple

Last week in Coronation Street, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) opened up to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) about a secret she had kept hidden since the early 2000s.

Toyah told Nick that when she was 19 years old, she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl and buried her in North Cross Park.

The start of the storyline – which has already received a great deal of backlash from fans – saw Toyah reveal that she went into labour in her bedroom on her own, spent one night with her daughter, and then buried her in the park grounds the next day.

As Nick sat and listened, Toyah confirmed that Phil Simmonds – the man who raped her – was the father of the baby, and that she called the little girl Rose after choosing to bury her near a rose bush.

That evening, Toyah thanked Nick for his kindness and hugged him. They also shared a very long look into each other’s eyes, which happened again in Monday’s (April 29) episode of the ITV soap.

Nick and Toyah spent the majority of the day working together at the Bistro. When Nick got talking about expanding the business, he suggested Toyah could become manager.

Toyah was reluctant to accept the offer, adamant she couldn’t be responsible for other people because she had too much going on in her mind.

Later, Toyah found Nick and put forward the idea of the Bistro working with a charity that hires ex-offenders. As soon as Leanne (Jane Danson) was told about this she outright said no, which left Toyah feeling a little deflated.

After time had passed, Nick managed to cheer her up by saying she could help at another charity instead. Toyah thanked him for his kindness and again, they shared a look that has left us wondering if they could end up betraying Leanne in an affair.

But are we right?

With Toyah having just opened up about Rose, and Nick feeling distant from Leanne as a result of cult leader Rowan (Emryhs Cooper), are things set to get out of hand?
