Corrie Lauren’s murder unrelated to ‘red herring’ Nathan as fans ‘find’ real killer
Coronation Street’s most avid viewers have been poring over Lauren Bolton’s disappearance, and they reckon they know who is really responsible after a major twist
Coronation Street fans reckon groomer Nathan Curtis has nothing to do with the disappearance of Lauren Bolton – and he’s just a “red herring”.
Avid viewers of the show have located their magnifying glasses and deerstalkers to get a good look at who really kidnapped or even murdered the youngster, after spoilers confirmed that paedo Nathan – who abused Bethany Platt – is returning to the cobbles.
In a shock twist, Nathan is spotted at the reconstruction of Lauren’s last known movements, with Bethany discovering he has been released from prison and is working on a nearby building site. Bethany’s forced to confront him – but there’s a chance the real predator is still at large.
Fans reckon they know exactly who it is, suggesting that Dee-Dee’s boyfriend and lawyer Joel is somehow involved – and perhaps even in cahoots with Nathan. Several major clues have been spotted in Soapland, including a receipt for a hefty jeweller’s bill that slipped out of Joel’s wallet.
He claimed it was from buying himself a pair of cufflinks – but fans will remember Lauren sporting an expensive necklace, which Roy has linked to her disappearance. Joel also “disappeared” for a few weeks at the same time Lauren did, leading fans to think he has either murdered her or has trafficked her out of the country.
Joel is well versed in keeping secrets, leaving Dee-Dee devastated when she found out he had a secret family, cheating on his ex Emily while she was pregnant with his child. What lengths will the lawyer go to in order to keep his latest secret?
There’s also the fact that Joel has agreed to help out Amy Barlow’s contact in a women’s charity – giving him potential access to hundreds of vulnerable women.
Taking to social media to air their theories, one fan suggested “I wonder if Joel is a brother to Nathan Curtis?” As somebody else agreed: “Can’t believe I’m saying this but I think Nathan’s innocent… my theory is that Joel got him released and managed to keep that knowledge from people on the street, knowing that they’d find out he’s back and start suspecting him.”
