Glenda Shuttleworth discovers brother George’s betrayal in Coronation Street – and plots epic revenge
George's decision to keep his sister in the dark about the will is going to come back to bite him on the bum in upcoming scenes
GLENDA Shuttleworth discovers brother George’s betrayal in Coronation Street – and plots epic revenge.
Recent episodes of the ITV soap saw George discover a lost version of his late father Archie’s will.
It stipulated that his sister Glenda should have received 50 per cent of the funeral parlour business six years ago.
George feared he was cheating his sibling out of her inheritance and in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, his guilt only increases as Glenda desperately tries to pull together the finances to buy a business franchise.
Glenda tells her brother how she wants to buy the Little Big Shotz business off Estelle, and he offers to help her apply for a bank loan.
But as he looks over her accounts he realises there’s no way she’ll ever get one.
Not to be put off, Glenda then puts a proposition to Estelle, suggesting that she buys Little Big Shotz on credit and pays her back in instalments.
However, a concerned George scuppers the deal by saying she’d have no means to pay the monthly instalments.
Later, Glenda moans to Todd about George’s act of betrayal and Todd assumes she’s referring to Archie’s will.
When Glenda demands to know what will, Todd realises his mistake.
A furious Glenda immediately takes action and heads to see Adam in the solicitors office.
However, Adam warns Glenda that suing George for half the business would be costly, there’s no guarantee she’d win and she’d be best to forget it, leaving her crushed.
But it’s George and Todd who are in for a shock, as when Rupert from Rest Easy calls at the undertakers and registers his interest in buying the business, the pair are left furious to discover that Glenda has put it up for sale.
Will the siblings be able to make amends? Or will their feud get worse?
Actor Tony Maudsley – who plays George – recently opened up about the storyline, and why his alter ego was so reluctant to be open with his sister about the will.
He said: “George is half protecting his little sister, who he loves dearly.
“He’s half protecting his dad’s legacy, which he has diligently looked after and kept going since Archie’s death.
“So he’s in this quandary of not [wanting] to short-change his sister, but also not wanting to hand her half a business that she’s going to sink into the ground in five seconds, if she gets her hands on it!”
