Coronation Street viewers spot glaring on-screen blunder about rarely-seen business

CORONATION Street fans were left stunned as they noticed a huge on-screen blunder during the latest episode.

It all came thanks to one of the show’s rarely-seen, and rarely-mentioned, businesses – Rutland’s Bakers.

Rutland’s made its debut on the show upon the opening of Weatherfield Precinct on-screen.

The set extension allowed a slew of brand new business to appear on the programme although many have been left without any mention’s or on-screen employees.

However, fans noticed something very strange about Rutland’s during its latest appearance.

In the episode, former sex worker Nicky Wheatley, played by Kimberley Hart-Simpson, had managed to trackdown a young girl, and current sex worker, who believed she might be able to help out in the case of Lauren Bolton.

Nicky met Ellie at the playground by the precinct to have a chat to her.

Whilst Ellie appeared uneasy, Nicky did her best to assure the vulnerable girl that she was in safe hands.

She suggested that the pair nipped into Rutland’s for a “coffee and a cake” to which Ellie agreed.

As the pair headed into the bakery, which had won a Gold Craft baker’s Award and been given a 5-star hygiene rating, they noticed something rather odd.

Rutland’s appeared very coy when it came to their opening times as they kept their cards close to their chest.

A sign out front read: “Business Hours – Open Monday to Saturday, Closed Sundays.”

Whilst the sign confirmed which days the bakery would be open, it left everything else very vague.

It gave no indication as to what time it opened or closed and with the blinds being completely shut, it appears that Nicky took a risk by opening the door to see if the premises was in fact open.

Picking up on the sign, a fansite for the show tweeted: “Rutland’s Bakers in the precinct are gloriously vague about their opening hours.”

Nicky and Ellie later emerged having grabbed a hot drink from inside confirming that it was indeed open.
