ITV Coronation Street actress ‘in devastating split with co-star boyfriend after two years’

Coronation Street actress Elle Mulvaney is said to have split from her co-star boyfriend after two years together.

The TV stars are believed to have gone their separate ways, leaving their friends and family shocked. Elle, 21, dated Liam Scholes, 21, and seems besotted with each other during their time together. The actress has played Amy Barlow on Corrie since 2010, and Liam had a brief time on the Cobbles himself in 2021, playing Eli Higginson for six episodes.

The young couple even celebrated Christmas 2023 together as they cuddled under their tree. However, their romance has come to an end according to reports. “Elle and Liam were loves young dream and did everything together,” a source said. “Their split has really shocked their co-stars and family and no one knows exactly what happened.”

“It was all very sudden and they have both made it clear to pals it would take a miracle for them to get back together again,” they told The Sun. Elle previously gushed over the relationship with Liam and said the fact he is an actor too meant he understood the hectic work life she endures. She told OK! Magazine in March: “He’s been brilliant… because he’s an actor as well he knows what it entails.

“He’s coped with his fair share of backlash in the past when he played Eli in Corrie. He’s always really supportive and if I’ve had a bad day he’ll say, ‘Let’s go for a Chinese…’” Asked if it was true love, she replied: “Yes! It’s going well, it’s going very well.” They recently celebrated Liam’s 21st birthday together as they headed on a city break to Amsterdam.

Posting a photo to Instagram, which showed the pair smiling for the camera as they lay among giant teddy bears, Liam said: “Thankyou so much for the birthday wishes everyone. Turning 21 with best people around me! To my friends, my aunties, my uncles, my cousins my grandparents, thank you for everything you’ve done for me over the past few years, I wouldn’t be the person I am today without any of you ! Now let’s enjoy the Dam.”

Elle and Liam got together just months after the actress split from her ex-boyfriend Euan after 18 months of dating. Liam took part in a controversial hate crime storyline during his time on Coronation Street as his character helped evil Corey Brent cover up the murder of Seb Franklin. He has since starred in Waterloo Road and the actor is also in a Manchester indie band called The Lanks.

Liam has acted since childhood and made appearances in Butterfly, Peaky Blinders and the short film Inertia. Elle started her career when she was just seven-years-old and joined Corrie back in 2010.She initially thought she’d done badly in her audition. Elle told Inside Soap magazine: “I remember doing the audition and worrying that the other person was going to get the part. My cardigan was buttoned up wrong, and I had beans down my top. I even said my line wrong!” She’s been nominated for “Best Young Actor” at the Inside Soap Awards three times in a row.
