The net is finally closing in on Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) killer, as Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) was arrested in Coronation Street.
The vile paedophile has been tormenting victim Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) for weeks, with her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien) adamant for revenge.
As viewers of the ITV soap will remember, Bethany was groomed by Nathan and later pimped out to his disgusting mates in 2017. After finally recognising his behaviour, she bravely reported him to the police and he was locked up.
She got a huge shock earlier this month when he was spotted at the Weatherfield Precinct, watching on as a reconstruction of Lauren’s final movements were recorded for television.
Adamant that he had something to do with the girl’s disappearance, she stole his phone and discovered that he’d subscribed to her O-Vidz account.
In a further twist, Gary Windass (Mikey North) attacked him, and coughed up £10k to ensure he stayed away from Bethany.
In tonight’s (27th May) episode, which is the first in a special week of instalments that will see Lauren’s killer unmasked, Bethany was horrified to see her rapist drive past her on Victoria Street and smirk.
Charging down to the police station, she broke down and demanded PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) arrest him, but he admitted there was nothing he could do.
Nathan’s not allowed within 250 metres of No. 8 Coronation Street, but as he was around the corner, he wasn’t breaching the terms of his release.
Sarah was furious with the situation and vowed to be the one who got rid of him.
Following an off the cuff comment made by her brother David (Jack P. Shepherd), she was given food for thought and tracked down one of Lauren’s hair bobbles that had been left at the Platt residence whilst she was staying with them.
Her botched plan was to plant the crucial DNA in the back of Nathan’s van, but it wasn’t long before he discovered her lurking around the building site and their altercation was stumbled upon by detective Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
Kit sent Nathan on his way, and upon discovering what Sarah was planning to do, warned her to let the authorities take charge.
Later, back at the builder’s yard flat, Bethany was elated to hear that Daniel (Rob Mallard) had seen Nathan being arrested, and that forensics team were searching his van.
Has Kit planted the evidence on Sarah’s behalf, or have they found something more sinister?
