Sinister twist as Roy is missing after confrontation with terrorist in Coronation Street
There are fears for Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) life in Coronation Street after vile terrorist Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron) entered his cell.
Griff, as fans of the ITV soap know, was the leader of a far-right extremist group that groomed Max Turner (Paddy Bever) into creating racist propaganda videos.
He later planted a bomb in a van outside of Pakistani street food restaurant Speed Daal which was driven away by Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) before it detonated.
Another teen recruited into the gang was Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), who went missing at the end of February. Being the last person to see her alive, Roy was quickly implicated for her apparent murder and hasn’t made things easy for himself.
Despite persisting with his innocence, his naivety has led neighbours and internet sleuths to question his unusual behaviour.
At one point he was ganged up upon by two heavies that knew Lauren’s dad, another of Griff’s gang members.
This week we’ll finally learn who was behind Lauren’s apparent murder.
Interestingly, the show has teased a death for Roy at the beginning of both yesterday, and tonight’s (28th May) episodes by using the same piece of classical music that played as his wife Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) took her own life ten years ago.
The instrumental piece can be heard in both episodes’ opening scenes, as a cup of coffee and a book slowly drop to the floor in his prison cell.
In the final shot, it was revealed to be none other than Griff who has entered his cell, and caused the items to fall – but there was no sign of Roy.
Later in the week, Griff will threaten him with a knife. Will he be okay?
