Coronation Street star lets slip who Joel’s working with – and it’s not Kit
Coronation Street's Nathan Curtis actor Chris Harper has let slip who will team up with Joel Deering on the ITV soap, following the news he is Lauren Bolton's killer
Coronation Street’s Joel Deering will work together with another character following the discovery he was behind Lauren Bolton’s disappearance.
After months of speculation over Lauren’s mystery ex who was harassing her, before the plot turned darker in February and she vanished, the truth was revealed on Thursday. Months on from her going missing and being presumed dead by detectives, after murder evidence was found at her flat, Joel was named as the mystery killer.
Now, a soap actor has revealed which character Joel will be shown teaming up with in upcoming scenes, amid fans speculating detective Kit Green could be helping him. Kit was seen planting evidence to have Nathan Curtis charged for the murder, after recent clues and messages linked him to Lauren.
Nathan returned seven years after being sent to prison for his part in a child sex grooming gang, with Bethany Platt being one of the young girls he groomed and sexually abused. She’s convinced he’s Lauren’s killer, and Kit was shown planting evidence in Nathan’s van before questioning him at the police station.
Joel was performing as Nathan’s solicitor, hiding the fact he is the true culprit of the crime Nathan is being accused of. Now, Nathan actor Chris Harper has revealed Joel will team up with someone in a “nasty” twist, with two characters set to “work together”.
But it isn’t Kit, despite fans thinking Kit is helping Joel to set up Nathan. Instead it’s Nathan himself, with actor Chris speaking to ITV’s Lorraine and admitting Nathan and Joel will work together amid the murder cover-up.
He said on the show on Friday: “I think we are about to see some fun twists. Joel’s got a lot to lose. They’re both manipulative, dark people, and we’re gonna see them working together to get the best end result for both of them. It’s gonna get nasty.”
This hints that Nathan finds out Joel is the real culprit, while this is not confirmed. Joel was identified as Lauren’s killer as a flashback showed the moment he brutally attacked her with a wooden chair leg. He may have been rumbled by youngster Hope Stape, who found missing Lauren’s necklace in Joel’s car as she cleaned it.
