Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) receives a horrifying phone call in Coronation Street next week that reveals Leanne (Jane Danson) has been involved in a motorbike accident.
Recently in the ITV soap, Toyah has found herself trying to destroy The Institute, a cult led by a man called Rowan (Emryhs Cooper).
We know Leanne has been manipulated into joining the group, but doesn’t believe it’s a corrupt organisation – she is firmly convinced the members are passionate about self-help and removing negative people from their lives.
Coming up, Toyah receives a delivery of yellow roses while at the Bistro. She tells Nick (Ben Price) the significance is connected to her stillborn baby daughter Rose, and believes Rowan reported her to the police.
Later, a furious Toyah confronts Leanne with the roses and shows her the card. Without any choice, Leanne admits that she did tell Rowan about Toyah’s baby.
‘She feels massively betrayed, because at first Leanne denies that she told Rowan, then even when it does come out and she knows she’s lied, Leanne is still on the backfoot and trying to deny it’, Georgia Taylor explained.
‘Leanne won’t accept that Rowan would do anything like that because she just thinks he’s this perfect human. It feels like the ultimate betrayal because when Toyah’s at her most vulnerable, when she’s grieving the loss of a child, she still feels like her sister’s not there for her.’
In the week, Rowan calls at the Bistro on his motorbike and, handing Leanne a helmet, tells her he’s got a surprise for her.
Leanne happily follows Rowan, leaving a fuming Nick and Toyah to cope with the lunchtime rush all on their own.
Later, as Toyah sets off for her Institute court case, she receives a call that shocks her.
Rushing into A&E, Toyah tells the nurse on the desk that she’s had a phone call to inform her Leanne has been involved in a motorbike accident.
But will Leanne be okay?
