Coronation Street reveals devastating truth about Toyah Battersby’s pregnancy

THE counsellor bedded her brother-in-law and fell pregnant

CORONATION Street’s Toyah Battersby has been hit by a devastating double blow as doctors discover she isn’t pregnant – and worse likely has cancer.

The counsellor – who is played by actress Georgia Taylor in the ITV soap – tested positive for being pregnant earlier this week after sleeping with her brother-in-law Nick Tilsley.

But having collapsed earlier this week and discovering she was pregnant in hospital, things tonight took a tragic turn.

Toyah went for a scan of her baby with sister Leanne supporting her.

The nurse stepped out of the room telling a worried Toyah and Leanne that she had to talk to her colleague.

And soon the devastating truth was revealed.

A doctor came in and told Toyah: “I’m sorry Toyah, I don’t think you were pregnant at all.

“I’m sorry. There can be other explanations for a false reading. Medical explanations. I’m sorry it’s not the news you wanted Toyah.”

The doctor referred her to a consultant for further investigation and he had some even worse news for Toyah.

He told her: “I’ve taken a good look at your scans and we’ve found a growth in one of your ovaries.

“Some tumours can give a false positive on a pregnancy test, hence the misunderstanding here.

“We’ve checked your bloods and they show elevated levels of a protein called CA125. Sometimes that can indicate ovarian cancer but not always.

“We’re going to move quickly and we’ll do a biopsy and a CT scan to give a clearer idea.”

Toyah was stunned but tried to muddle through as the doctor told her not to go online to research for fear of going down a rabbit hole.

She had her scan with Nick’s support but Leanne abandoned them both to go to The Institute.

Later Nick was devastated by Leanne’s behaviour and lashed out at her for leaving Toyah alone.

He confided in his brother David about not seeing a future with her – while also being gutted about Toyah not being pregnant.

But will Nick and Toyah get together properly and leave Leanne to her weird cult?
