Corrie bosses accidentally reveal a key character is coming ‘back from the dead’
Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out which fan-favourite character will be returning to Weatherfield "from beyond the grave" - and you don't have long to wait
Coronation Street fans believe one character is “returning from the grave.”
Eagle-eyed viewers are convinced that ITV bosses have accidentally revealed which star will return to Weatherfield this month. An update on the ITVX TV guide meant the major twist was inadvertently leaked.
Loyal fans will recall when Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton) disappeared from the famous cobbles after losing her job at Roy’s Rolls. The blonde bombshell terrified her friends and family when they failed to find her.
Cops were soon called to search her flat where they found evidence of a struggle and a bloodied weapon on the floor. Until now, viewers were convinced that this was the murder weapon which killed the teen.
Her former boss Roy Cropper (David Nielson) immediately became their number one suspect and he was charged with her murder and remanded in prison until his trial. DC Swain (Vicky Myers) became convinced that the fan-favourite had paid her for sex before murdering her in a fit of rage.
Luckily for Roy, sex trafficker Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) was ultimate held responsible for her murder after he was set up by bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). It wasn’t until last month that viewers discovered that sleazy solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) who was behind the teen’s disappearance.
But in recent weeks, fans have begun to suspect that the teen is actually still alive after spotting a clue that suggests she might be using her friend’s credit card to keep her afloat. And now it appears as though their theories have been confirmed.
This week’s TV guides seemingly reveal that the star is set to make a shock return to the cobbles in dramatic scenes later this month. It didn’t take long before one eagle-eyed soap fan rushed to social media to share an upcoming episode description online.
It read: “Lauren apologises to Roy but gets a hostile reception from Carla.” This appears to confirm that she is alive and well and will return to the cobbles on Friday, July 19.
Daily Star has reached out to Coronation Street representatives for a comment. This isn’t the first time the soap has inadvertently leaked a huge spoiler through the early release of TV guides.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that fans had spotted a spoiler that villain Nathan Curtis would be returning to the show in dramatic scenes. The Sun revealed how the Virgin Media TV schedule guides exposed exactly which date Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) would come face to face with her abuser.
Fans were furious at the time as they slammed the soap for “spoiling” their own storylines. Viewers will have to stay tuned to see how Lauren’s return will go down with residents and how Joel will react to her reappearance.
