Coronation Street fans slam soap’s ‘forgotten storylines’ as another devastating death looms
Fans didn't hold back as two character's on screen chemistry seem to be completely forgotten about
CORONATION Street fans have ripped into the show’s ‘forgotten storylines’ ahead of a heartbreaking death.
Fans of the long-running ITV soap have taken aim at bosses over a spate of recent storylines.
It comes as Paul Foreman’s tragic death looms as the character battles Motor Neuron Disease.
The character – played by Peter Ash – will bow out of the show in what will be heartbreaking scenes.
But Coronation Street fans have swiped at the storyline – including others as they said Paul will be ‘forgotten’ within weeks.
Viewers also pointed out how Yasmeen’s seemingly forgot about her ordeal with abusive ex-partner Geoff Metcalfe.
The twisted character ultimately met his fate when he fell off her roof three years ago.
Recalling the storyline, one fan said: “The handling of Yasmeen’s character post-Geoff has been problematic.
“Given how active she was in the community, why did we not see her enter into a role where she volunteers for a charity, like what Amy did after her rape (although we saw next to nothing of that).”
Meanwhile, another pointed out Leanne Battersby’s storyline involving the loss of her son Oliver.
She shared the little boy with Steve McDonald but he tragically died in 2020 after being diagnosed with mitochondrial disease.
An eagle-eyed fan said: “They made a big deal about Steve getting Michelle and Leanne pregnant at the same time and now both sons are dead. I don’t know if they killed Oliver off then killed Natasha off so Sam could be Leanne’s son but if so that was kind of crass.”
Max Turner’s far-right storyline that saw him get caught up in a grooming gang run by Griff.
The character – played by Paddy Bever – was later charged with inciting terrorism but is now back on the cobbles.
Another fan commented: “One that stands out to me is Max. Not so much the far-right plot itself but how he never even reconciled with David.
“Does he still see David as pathetic? Does he think he’s less of a man? Does he aspire to be more? Does he understand David better?
“The apparent core conflict was thrown out entirely and forgotten.”
Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
