Coronation Street star’s exit ‘sealed’ after 14 years following game-changing bombshell
Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked as Weatherfeld teenager Jack Webster was arrested after confessing to starting the fire at Stefan Brent's office building
Coronation Street viewers were left on the edge of their seats as Jack Webster confessed to starting the fire at Stefan Brent’s office building.
Long-time fans of the ITV soap will recall that Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) and his wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman) have been embroiled in a bitter feud with Stefan (Paul Opacic) for years.
Stefan’s son, Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), was responsible for the murder of Abi’s son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) in 2021, a storyline that dealt with hate crime. In a twisted turn of events, Stefan recently created deepfake videos of Abi, but the police were unable to assist.
Abi is certain that Stefan made the deepfakes as payback for her refusal to participate in a documentary that portrayed Corey as a hero among his prison football team, a film produced by Stefan’s company.
Kevin recently broke into Stefan’s offices to steal evidence proving he was behind the deepfakes and took a burner phone.
Last week, Kevin’s teenage son Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) got caught up in the deepfake drama when his schoolmates teased him about the footage, reports the Express.
On Monday (July 29), Stefan cunningly retrieved the burner phone by luring Kevin out of the house and persuading Jack to let him in.
Later, PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) had no choice but to arrest Kevin on suspicion of burgling Stefan’s property. Upon returning home, Kevin informed his family that he had to admit to the charge and would be attending a plea hearing next week.
The episode concluded with Abi, who had been out, coming back to find Kevin engrossed in an online news report about a fire at Stefan’s office building. She bitterly remarked that he deserved it.
During Wednesday’s visit to Weatherfield (July 31), Kevin voiced his suspicions that Abi was behind the fire.
Kevin confirmed that the blaze originated from Stefan’s car and rapidly spread to his publishing company’s offices.
“Thank god no one was inside”, Abi said to Kevin over their morning coffee, speculating that the arson attack was for insurance purposes.
However, just hours later, the police showed up at the car garage, requesting that both Kevin and Abi come to the station for voluntary questioning regarding the fire.
The pair denied any involvement in the arson attack and were both released. But once they got home, Jack dropped a shocker.
“I was only trashing his car, I was trying to get my own back”, Jack confessed to Abi, revealing that he started the fire as part of a revenge plot against Stefan.
Kevin was livid upon learning of Jack’s actions but, in an attempt to shield his son, the mechanic turned himself into the police.
The police dismissed Kevin’s claim, and shortly after, Jack showed up at the police station and was arrested for arson after confessing everything. Will Jack end up behind bars for his crime?
