Corrie Gail’s new exit plot ‘revealed’ after co-star quits – and it’s ‘not a happy ending’
Coronation Street fans fear for Gail Platt's exit storyline after the announcement that Sean Wilson - who plays Martin Platt - has quit the soap ahead of his return.
Corrie viewers reckon they’ve ‘worked out’ how Gail Platt will leave the soap – following the bombshell that Martin Platt actor Sean Wilson has quit.
The Corrie grapevine went wild last month with word that Martin Platt, who’s played by Sean Wilson, was poised for a dramatic return during Gail Platt’s final scenes on the cobbles as actress Helen Worth says ta-ra after a legendary 50-year stint.
Martin, Gail’s ex-hubby who starred in the soap from 1985 all the way to 2005 and popped up again six years back in Weatherfield, suddenly became a hot topic when it leaked that Sean’s ditched the show, causing chaos with his already-filmed clips getting axed.
With Corrie bigwigs reported to be scrambling to redo the scrip for Helen’s October adieu, The Mirror received confirmation from a show rep: “Sean Wilson has stepped down from filming for personal reasons.”
But this unexpected twist sent shivers down fans’ spines, leading them to a grim hunch that Gail’s departure could get an unexpected and potentially dark rewrite, reports the Express.
And social media has only revved up that chatter, with loads of viewers concocting plots around how Gail might take her leave some fearing a tragic ending to her saga. Echoing these worries, one fan wrote online: “Dear #Corrie producers…. whatever you do, DO NOT kill off Gail Platt.” (sic)
One anxious fan took to the forums with a theory: “Omg… sounds like maybe Helen has gone to the bosses and said that she doesn’t want to leave this way anymore and now this scares me she’s decided she wants Gail to be killed off instead. I’m actually scared.” (sic)
Another viewer was clearly worried, writing: “Gail best not be getting killed off.” And another fan shared the dread, posting: “I swear if Gail gets killed off.” (sic)
