Coronation Street child villain Hope Stape to turn sinister as Alina Pop makes dramatic exit
Another twist was thrown at Tyrone Dobbs and Fiz Stape this Friday on Coronation Street as Alina Pop made the drastic decision to leave the cobbles and her son Dorin.
Concerned for the safety of her son, Alina Pop decided to leave Dorin on Coronation Street with his father as she made a swift exit from the cobbles this Friday.
Actress Ruxandra Porojnicu recently returned to the ITV drama three years after her last appearance as Alina Pop, which saw her embark on an affair with Tyrone Dobbs, who dumped his then-girlfriend, now-wife, Fiz Stape in order to be with her.
Alina’s life drastically changed during her absence as she bumped into Fiz on Freshco’s car park, telling her that she’d been called back to Weatherfield as a witness to a trial and it was later revealed that she’d also given birth to Tyrone’s son.
But after receiving mysterious calls from an unknown person, it became clear Alina was in more trouble than she’d originally let on and scenes aired this Friday (August 23, 2024) confirmed that danger may be looming on the horizon, while viewers at home have suspected she may even be killed off.
Cornered in her hotel room by an unknown brute, Alina was saved just in time by Ronnie Bailey, who’d been called in for some plumbing work. Shaken, and while Ronnie probed her about the man who attacked her, Alina believed her best bet was to go on the run, leaving her son Dorin with Tyrone.
Unbeknownst to her, the mechanic portrayed by Alan Halsall had been plotting behind her back to keep the two-year-old nearby.
Taking to X, otherwise known as Twitter, viewers expressed their concerns over Alina’s decision: “So Alina’s dumped her kid with Tyrone and Fiz, I doubt that’s gonna go smoothly!”, one penned.
Another quipped: “Alina ‘it’ll only be for a week – maybe two -at least until the trial is over – probably Boxing Day’2, just as a third chimed in: “Tyrone has done a U turn – now he wants Dorin to stay with Alina. ‘You’re better off with him you’re his mum.'”
A handful of viewers pointed out a major mistake as one wrote: “Alina should be under protective custody after that”, just as another exclaimed: “In real life they would put them in protective custody ffs.”
One final fan teased a dark twist involving sibling rivalry and Hope Stape, portrayed by Isabella Flanagan: “In real life alina and dorin would’ve been put in witness protection until the trial is over it’s all contrived so that fiz can play the martyr again and look after a child that isn’t even hers then her precious daughter will probably harm him.”
As mentioned, Alina was summoned back to the Street in recent weeks, claiming that she had to provide evidence against a human trafficking group leader, set to stand trial for his misdeeds.
Stepping onto the Street for the first time in April, 2019, Alina was introduced as a nail technician from Romania and a victim of human trafficking in which a local builder called Jan Lozinski was seemingly involved.
After Jan was revealed to be working with the police, Alina managed to escape the human trafficking with help from the late Seb Franklin, finding a safe haven in Weatherfield before trying to seduce Tyrone Dobbs – and getting a stern warning from Fiz.
Unfortunately, as soap watchers will remember, this wasn’t enough to keep Alina and Tyrone apart and they quickly formed a couple. But their relationship was ultimately over when Alina began to show controlling traits, similar to the mechanic’s former girlfriend Kirsty Soames.
In late 2021, Alina decided to leave the cobbles behind, without telling Tyrone or Fiz that she was pregnant. She gave birth to Tyrone’s son Dorin in 2022 and kept his existence under wraps. Will he stay in Weatherfield for good? Have viewers seen the last of Alina?
