ITV Coronation Street fans ‘solve’ who’s after Bethany as return ‘sealed’ after sinister texts

Coronation Street’s Bethany Platt could be in danger after hints in the latest episode of the ITV soap.

The character confirmed she had received threatening messages on her phone from someone likely involved in a far-right extremist group. Bethany was given contacts by Lauren Bolton, whose dad was a member of a far-right group. He had manipulated her and Max Turner with his racist views in a storyline in 2022.

Max’s cousin Bethany caught Lauren’s attention, as the journalist was looking for a new story to write about and Lauren needed some cash. Lauren suggested she give her story about her time with the extremist group, and even gave Bethany some contacts after revealing she still had some people’s details.

But it seemed to backfire after Bethany approached the contacts for comment, and received some sinister messages back. Bethany was not deterred though and was keen to go ahead with the article despite it clearly unsettling those it is about.

Bethany may regret it though, as upcoming scenes see her get more messages as Lauren appears to go missing. But just how much danger are they both in, and who is out to get them?

Fans think someone is out to get Bethany, and the same person could have targeted Lauren too. But they don’t think it’s the person sending the sinister messages, or anyone from a far-right group.

Instead, viewers have suspected evil past character Nathan Curtis, who groomed and raped Bethany in a sexual abuse storyline in 2017, could be returning. They think he might be the mystery ex of Lauren who has been harassing her with gifts and messages.

With Bethany now linked to Lauren, fans have wondered if it could tease Nathan’s comeback and that both of them may be in danger. One fan posted: “Laurens boyfriend is nathan isn’t it, why oh why would you do this corrie.”

Another said: “Imagine if it was nathan Curtis who groomed bethany,” as a third added: “But I’d nearly bet it’s Nathan as a lot of connections to Bethany seem to be occurring.” It comes as Lauren actress Cait Fitton teased what was ahead to The Mirror.

Cait said fans could expect Lauren to face “obstacles”, and that her “shocking” secret will leave her in “a lot of danger” in upcoming scenes. She said: “There’s a lot of danger there. She’s a vulnerable 18 year-old-girl so she’s bound to make mistakes, but she’s still young.

“It’s a shock for Lauren because she blurts out [her secret] to Max, but Sabrina as well, and she’s not that close to Sabrina so it’s quite complicated. Even though she can’t accept it herself she’s expecting other people to, which is interesting to play but there will be a lot of danger ahead.

“I can’t reveal too much but it’s a very exciting storyline. Corrie always do an amazing job smashing all their serious storylines, so all I can say is stay tuned.”
