Corrie icon makes soap comeback six years after horrifying exit from the cobbles
One Coronation Street legend will be making their dramatic return to soap land alongside their fiancée after bidding farewell to the cobbles over six years ago
A Corrie icon will be returning to soap land for an epic comeback.
Shayne Ward, known for his legendary X Factor stint and his role in Coronation Street, made a dramatic exit from Coronation Street six years ago and has been out of the soap game since 2018.
His character tragically died on the cobbles but now, Ward will star in a new role alongside his fiancée, former Hollyoaks actress Sophie Austin. The pair will star in Doctors, which is soon to be cancelled once the final episode airs in December.
A BBC spokesperson previously announced: “We have taken the very difficult decision to bring daytime drama Doctors to an end after 23 years. With super inflation in drama production, the cost of the programme has increased significantly and further investment is also now required to refurbish the site where the show is made, or to relocate it to another home.”
“With a flat licence fee, the BBC’s funding challenges mean we have to make tough choices in order to deliver greater value to audiences,” they revealed. Elsewhere on the BBC. The pair danced a samba to Stevie Wonder’s Do I Do, with many viewers excited to see Ward on their screens once again. He first appeared in Corrie back in 2015 with the bold career U-turn into acting.
He played Aidan Connor, a character with a seriously emotional storyline that ended in his suicide. However, the 39-year-old is perhaps best known for his musical career after he skyrocketed to fame winning The X Factor back in 2005.
