Coronation Street Jesse’s real target ‘rumbled’ after bombshell – and it’s not Gail
Gail Platt was recently rushed to hospital after a heart attack but, this Monday, Corrie's Jesse Chadwick revealed to her stunned family the pair were ready to get hitched.
Fans are suspecting that Jesse Chadwick has an elaborate plan to fill his pockets – but they may be shocked to find out his real motives.
John Thomson reprised his role after years away from Coronation Street last month and his ITV alter ego, which was brought back to the cobbles shortly after Sean Wilson’s brutal axe from the long-running drama, has since raised many questions as he was seen getting closer to Gail Platt (portrayed by Helen Worth).
While the budding connection came as a surprise for multiple Weatherfield residents, Gail’s health was then at the core of all concerns when she suffered from a heart attack in recent scenes of the Manchester-based programme. This Monday, however, (October 28) Jesse dropped yet another bombshell on the Platts as the couple are ready to tie the knot.

Jesse broke the news to Gail’s family, letting them know he couldn’t wait for her to share their happy update – but the veteran’s mother Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) was less than impressed by her future son-in-law. Later on, Gail shared the big news herself, but her loved ones clearly had their reservations about the growing romantic connection.
And with Gail’s exit from the cobbles looming on the horizon after move than five decades on Corrie, theories have been swirling online about what her fate could hold, with many viewers of the long-running show suspecting Jesse may be involved.
Despite her cardiac health issues, no word on Gail potentially being killed off has been uttered and a new theory now suggests that Jesse may not be the one to blame for Gail’s exit. Like many other familiar faces in Weatherfield, Gail may decide her health woes are the perfect wake-up call for her to follow her dreams, and maybe move to Thailand, away from her entire family.
As a result, Jesse could decide not to follow her as his intentions with Gail remain unclear and the risk of him not being genuine remains a possibility. Taking things a step further, he may even decide to move on with another wealthy woman, Jenny Connor.
The pub landlady played by Sally Ann Matthews, was once targeted by serial killer Stephen Reid, with whom she embarked on a relationship before realising he had been taking advantage of her, making her highly vulnerable to the charms of a deceitful and cash-hungry man.
To top it all off, this could all coincide with David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) motives as the troublesome character recently stole Damon Hay’s illicit money in a bid to purchase Gail’s house on Coronation Street. Over on Reddit, however, many soap watchers speculated he may plot to take over the Rovers with his wife Shona and their children. Could it be enough for a full-blown feud with Jesse?
