Coronation Street’s Dee-Dee Bailey reveals why she ‘killed’ Joel Deering but there’s a curveball
Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) dropped a huge bombshell in tonight’s Coronation Street when she confessed to murdering Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
Dee-Dee has been out of sorts since Joel’s death, snapping at her friends and suffering from nightmares and panic attacks.
In tonight’s episode, a concerned Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) paid her a visit, determined to get to the bottom of what was bothering her.
He believed that she was worried that he and Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) had killed Joel, but she soon set him right by confessing to committing the crime herself.
She emotionally explained how she had gone out looking for Joel after overhearing Ed and Ronnie discussing how they hadn’t been able to find him at his flat.
She revealed that she had taken a crowbar for self-defence, and ended up needing to use it when Joel lunged at her after she found him attempting to go on the run.
As Dee-Dee confessed that Joel went down after being struck by the crowbar, Ed pointed out that his body had been found in the river, so unless she’d put him there, she couldn’t have been the killer.
She went on to reveal that she had immediately called DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), disguising her mobile number and voice, before leaving the scene.
Ed was quick to point out that Kit hadn’t mentioned the call since, meaning that she must not be on his radar as a suspect.
Despite this, Dee-Dee revealed that she planned to go to the station and confess first thing the next morning – much to Ed’s horror.
Certain that she wasn’t the killer, Ed encouraged her to keep quiet.
The next morning, he bumped into Kit in the cafe, and asked if he had any updates on Joel’s case.
Kit didn’t give much away, but made it clear that he still believed that Ronnie was the culprit.
This put Ed and Dee-Dee in an awkward position, knowing that keeping quiet could land Ronnie in trouble.
What will they decide to do?
