Coronation Street’s Tommy star ‘quits’ soap as steamy affair with Tracy is exposed
Coronation Street's Tommy Orpington actor Matt Milburn has reportedly quit the ITV soap as his character's affair with Tracy Barlow is set to be exposed in upcoming scenes
Coronation Street actor Matt Milburn, who plays Tommy Orpington, is set to leave the soap after his affair is exposed.
Michael Le Vell’s character, Kevin Webster, reveals that the former Weatherfield County player – now a painter and director – will be leaving for Spain next week.
Fans have been shocked as they’ve watched Tommy start a hot romance with soap veteran Tracy over the past few months, while her clueless husband Steve (Simon Gregson) tries to bring back the spark in their marriage.

The affair kicked off when Tommy was hired to decorate the couple’s bedroom. Tracy made the most of her husband’s trip to France, where he was visiting his daughter Emma, and quickly hopped into bed with the football star.
Since Steve came back, he nearly caught the pair in the act at the florist’s shop, but luckily, he didn’t suspect anything. The Streetcars star has since tried to be more romantic and plans to propose renewing their wedding vows – all while Tracy is cheating on him.
However, even though Tommy has rejected her advances since Steve’s return, Tracy thinks she’s in love and doesn’t seem to worry about the fallout for her family when the affair comes out.

Despite agreeing to remarry Steve previously, a guilty Tracy decides to come clean to Ken and Amy Barlow that she’s been stepping out with Tommy, Mirror has reported.
Matt, who’s taken on the role of Tommy sporadically since 2016, commented on these juicy bits on the Lorraine show: “Poor old Steve! He’s gonna be mortified at the fact that it’s Tommy, rather than just finding out that his Mrs is having an affair.”
Matt also let slip on his unusual living arrangements during filming. Although usually based in the south, he stays with his mum in the north while recording for Corrie. When Lorraine insinuated that his mum helps him rehearse the saucier scenes, Matt was quick to say: “[My mum] becomes Tracy – within reason!”
He continued to elaborate, “I’m based down south, obviously ‘Corrie’ is filmed up north. So when I’m filming, I stay with my mum and yeah she learns all her lines with me. She’s been Tracy Barlow for the last four months doing an amazing job. She loves it, it’s great for me and we spend a lot of time together. She loves the show, she’s a big fan.”
