Lisa Swain was arrested for Joel Deering's murder this Monday but after another flashback lifted the lid on two new suspects, Corrie fans are convinced they know the real culprit.
Kit Green cuffed and carted Lisa Swain away from Coronation Street this Monday as he announced she was under arrest for Joel Deering’s murder – but could Max and Lauren be responsible?
In recent months, Coronation Street regular Lisa Swain (played by Vicky Myers) led a thorough investigation to catch the duty solicitor and bring him to justice but Weatherfield residents, including her, received a nasty shock when Joel was found dead in the canal.
During this Monday’s trip to the cobbles (November 11, 2024), Lisa received a brutal surprise when Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) arrested her on suspicion of murder, bringing her in to the station for questioning.
But while she may have had a motive to kill Joel Deering, some viewers of the ITV programme have grown increasingly convinced Lisa is being framed and a new flashback involving Carla Connor (Alison King) was enough for them to believe two residents may be to blame. for the set-up.

Kit Green was originally thought to be framing Lisa in an attempt to get her job but, in another theory, wayward teens Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and Max Turner (Paddy Bever) are believed to have committed murder following Carla’s flashback. In these scenes, the Underworld factory boss caught the troublemakers smuggling a suitcase in the boot of a car.
“Carla FB seeing Lauren & Max? Been thinking Lauren has been playing both sides?! Pretending to be grateful to Lisa/not telling Kit things, while making public displays of Betsy’s Joel link- fuelling ideas of Lisa’s motives?!”, one fan wrote.
“Maybe Lauren secretly harbours resentment toward DS Swain!? Her admission re Joel about being a liar is probably not to be dismissed… And look at how Lauren slinks back into her chair at seeing Carla…like a rat crawling back into its hole”, they added, in reference to a recent scene.
A second soap fan seemed to agree: “lauren and max framing lisa as payback for what betsy did for joel???? i’m calling it!” Regular viewers of the Manchester-based programme will remember that Joel enlisted Betsy Swain’s (Sydney Martin) help to get the pills he used to try and kill Lauren’s baby Frankie – the undeniable proof that he was, at the very least, sexually involved with Lauren, whom he abused for several months. Another echoed: “Max did it to protect Lauren and Lauren found out and helped him cover it up she planted Lisa’s CS Spray to set up Lisa! 100%!”
The mystery around Joel’s death has led a multitude of Corrie residents to be suspected of foul play, along with Lisa, Max and Lauren. Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling Brown) has also been a notable suspect, as she was clearly left devastated by Joel’s betrayal. But in recent scenes, she realised she couldn’t have killed Joel as he was still alive after their last ever confrontation, which took place on the evening of his death, on September 27. Who really killed Joel?
