Coronation Street fans believe Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) could have a connection to a former character.
Kit has been rather an enigma since arriving on the Street earlier this year.
The copper was introduced as the long-lost son of Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), who she put up for adoption after a one-night stand over 30 years ago.
Little else has been revealed about Kit’s background, including his father and his adopted family.
However, some one fan put forward a suggestion his father could be none other than Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).
Rob is the brother of Carla Connor (Alison King) and father of Bobby Crawford (Jack Caroll) and appeared on the ITV soap between 2012 and 2017.
He is currently in prison after famously killing Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan).
One fan shared a lengthy post on Reddit, in which they explained that if Kit were Rob’s son, ‘it could’ve been a great way to start creating an entire web of connections within a six-month to year period’.
They reasoned: ‘Realistic entrances have long since died. There always has to be some strange twist or connection it feels.
‘What has Kit gained by being Bernie’s son? He always leaves the room when he’s with his own family it’s a useless connection.’
‘Damn .. I can totally see this,’ one fan agreed.
Another said: ‘I think you might have to knock two years off Kit’s current age to make it work, but otherwise, it works fine, yeah.
‘Rob was born in 1979 but you could easily just make him a teen dad instead,’ they added.
Since his arrival on Coronation Street, we have seen how Kit has struggled to forgive his mum Bernie for abandoning him.
Actor Jacob Roberts admitted this has left him with ‘a lot of unresolved issues’, as he explained: ‘He is still very angry, he doesn’t want anything to do with her. As far as he is aware she abandoned him twice, once when he was born and then again when he was 20 and he arranged to meet her and she didn’t show up. He has a lot of unresolved issues.’
Kit is currently taking centre stage in Corrie, leading on the investigation into Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) death.
Later this week, fans will finally discover who killed the evil character in a special episode.
