Bethany makes a sinister discovery about the clinic that ruined her life in Coronation Street – and it’s war!
Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) life changed forever a few months ago in Coronation Street when she fell victim to botched liposuction surgery abroad.
After contracting sepsis, Bethany was told by mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien) that she had been fitted with a stoma bag and will live with it for the rest of her life.
Life back home in Weatherfield has been difficult for Bethany. She has hidden herself away in her flat and struggled to be intimate with boyfriend Daniel (Rob Mallard) as a result of the massive change to her appearance.
Recently, she tried to take a step forward by attending an event in the pub with her friends. Sadly, Bethany rushed out in horror when she realised her stoma bag was leaking.
Still struggling to come to terms with being fitted with a stoma bag, upcoming episodes will see Bethany attend a support group, but it will become clear she’s lied to group leader Dawn about the operation she had which resulted in the stoma bag being fitted.
Back at home, Sarah shows Bethany a news article that states the clinic she attended has botched another liposuction operation.
Towards the end of the week, Debbie (Sue Devaney) shows off her new convertible to Kevin (Michael Le Vell), but her mood changes when Bethany mentions suing the Turkish clinic.
Later, Adam (Sam Robertson) advises Bethany and Sarah to demand compensation from a director of the clinic – who also happens to live in the UK.
When Adam then reveals the director’s name, they are shocked.
It’s a huge development – will Bethany find some form of closure in this new journey?
