Coronation Street airs double exit but fans convinced one won’t return to soap
Coronation Street fans seem to think they've worked out what lies ahead for Stu Carpenter after he made a surprising cobbles exit with his granddaughter Eliza in town
Emotions were running high on ITV’s Coronation Street as Eliza and her grandfather Stu Carpenter said farewell to the famous cobbles.
On Wednesday night (April 17), Eliza said her goodbyes to her friends on the street as she decided to spend some time with her father in Germany. Determined to keep her relationship with her estranged father on good form, Eliza put her foot down and told Stu and his partner Yasmeen that she needed to see him.
Reluctant to let her go, Stu finally decided that it would be best for Eliza to spend two weeks Germany, with a view of her living there permanently. But as Stu chucked Eliza’s suitcases in the cab, fans were shocked to see Stu apparently going with her too.
In the emotional scene, Yasmeen assured Stu that he can still come back and stay with her when he returns from the trip. But fans seem to think that Stu won’t be coming back any time soon.
Heading over to X, one viewer said: “I’m now convinced that Stu is leaving. I’m also convinced that I only think that because it is what I want.”
Another echoed: “I really hope Stu doesn’t come back.” A third penned: “Eliza is leaving? Let’s hope the abysmal Stu enjoys bratwurst and stays in Germany with her.”
A fourth viewer chimed: “Please Yaz change the locks while Stu’s away.” While another shared that they thought Stu was boring and wrote: “I’d rather watch a pot of stew instead of Stu. He promised to be a good character when first introduced.
But despite the negativity, some viewers didn’t want to see Stu leave at all and was happy he wasn’t going. Offering an opposing view, one fan said: “Will really miss Eliza. Stu has been such a wonderful Grandfather to her and have always loved @billfellows12 and Savannah Kunyo scenes together.”
Stu has had a rather turbulent time as of late. As well as trying to keep Eliza as safe as possible, he was also recently attacked by a homeless man who threw a brick on his head.
