CORONATION Street has aired evil Joel Deering’s final scenes as he skipped court.
The twisted character – played by Calum Lill – was due in court after being charged with his crimes.
He had been secretly recorded by Betsy, which incriminated him enough that Lisa Swain could arrest him.
But as Dee Dee arrived in court on what would have been her wedding to face Joel as he entered his plea, he was nowhere to be seen.
He later turned up at Roy’s Rolls drunk, threatening him before fleeing when Carla arrived at the cafe.
But while the Weatherfield residents were on edge as Joel remained at large, later scenes showed the villain breaking down in tears.
From an unknown location, Joel could be seen with a large cut on his cheek as he rang Dee Dee’s phone.
He told her: “Hi Dee Dee, it’s me. I just want to say one thing.
“I still love you so much. We always hurt the one we love, right?
“I know there’s no way back after everything but, maybe there’s something that I can still do to make you and everyone else happy.”
Breaking down in tears, he finished with: “I’m so sorry, bye.”
The titles then rolled, with Joel’s fate unknown as Calum Lill bows out after just one year on the cobbles.
