Coronation Street confirms Daniel Osbourne as suspect in Lauren Bolton murder plot
He faces some tough questioning.
Coronation Street‘s Daniel Osbourne comes under suspicion next week as the police investigate Lauren Bolton’s disappearance.
A big new storyline on the show will see Lauren’s case become a murder inquiry after the police search her empty flat for clues and find traces of blood.
Daniel’s connection to Lauren soon faces intense scrutiny from the police – and it’s not long before incidents from his past are brought up too.
Viewers know that Daniel was tutoring Lauren for her GCSE English exam in the months leading up to her disappearance.
Back in 2021, Daniel was wrongly accused of an inappropriate sexual relationship with Summer Spellman, another one of his students.
He also has a complicated history with sex worker Nicky Wheatley, as he used to pay her to dress up as his late wife Sinead when he was struggling with his grief.
DS Swain will be leading the police’s investigation into Lauren’s disappearance and she begins shining a spotlight on Daniel next week.
Vicky Myers, who plays Swain, told Digital Spy: “She’s quick to investigate Daniel’s history with women – especially the connection with Nicky Wheatley and so on. Max comes into the police station and they have a discussion about that.
“There’s also the incident with Summer and the fact that he was brought in for questioning about improper conduct. So with that, there’s obviously a line of enquiry with him.
“Swain is keen to find out exactly what Daniel’s up to – was he tutoring Lauren for sexual favours? As awful as that sounds, perhaps that’s exactly what’s been going on.
“We’re picking apart these people’s lives and how accepting the community is. But when you put it down on paper, you ask: ‘Is there an ulterior motive with this?’ So Swain is very much on that and wants to look into it further.”
Coronation Street airs Daniel’s police quiz with Swain on Wednesday, March 13.
