Coronation Street confirms outcome of Roy Cropper’s flashbacks
More bad news for the fan favourite.
Coronation Street‘s Roy Cropper is left disappointed next week as his major new clue comes to nothing.
Roy is trying to fight back and secure his freedom after being arrested and charged for the presumed murder of Lauren Bolton.
The much-loved café owner has been held on remand since being charged, although he’s currently recovering in hospital after collapsing in his cell.
Once Roy is back in prison later this week, he ploughs ahead with a new-found determination to clear his name.
Roy has been struggling to remember a conversation that Lauren had with Max Turner before she disappeared, believing that it could be important. His vague memories have been shown on screen in incomplete flashbacks.
He speaks to his solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey and encourages her to look into the expensive necklace that Lauren was wearing before she disappeared.
The necklace was a gift from Lauren’s mystery boyfriend, so Roy suggests finding out where it came from and tracing the unknown man in question.
While it’s a relief to see Roy putting up a fight, Dee-Dee later has some difficult news to share.
In scenes airing next Monday (May 6), Dee-Dee breaks the news that the police didn’t have any luck tracing the necklace or mystery boyfriend.
Roy is upset as Dee-Dee admits that the setback puts them back at square one, with him still the prime suspect in the case.
Next week’s episodes also feature an official police reconstruction of Lauren’s last movements, with the police hoping that this could bring new witnesses forward.
The return of evil Nathan Curtis is also revealed, with Bethany Platt voicing a shocking theory that he could have killed Lauren.
