Coronation Street DS Swain’s mystery woman ‘exposed’ as lesbian romance ‘sealed’
DS Lisa Swain is currently investigating Lauren Bolton's disappearance and distracted viewers think the blonde copper will fall for another Weatherfield woman
Corrie fans are convinced they know who DS Swain’s mystery woman could be.
The copper, played by Vicky Myers, has been involved in many gripping storylines over the years and viewers are set to see a whole new side of her away from the station.
She is currently investigating the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and in a recent interview, actress Vicky told Daily Star and other press that fans are set to learn a little bit more about her stone-faced character.
She said: “We know that she has a teenage daughter and also, I’m not entirely sure everybody knows this, but she’s gay.” When asked if her character could find love on the soap in the future, she replied: “So I think for Swain she perhaps has seen somebody that’s caught her eye. But at the moment she’s far too busy with focusing on this investigation.
“She’s focusing on her career and being a single mum and juggling her home life as well to her teenage daughter. We’re only just scratching the surface with Swaine and when I got the call that this was happening, it was the itch that I needed to scratch.”
Following Vicky’s revelation about DS Swain’s sexuality, fans have been busy guessing which mystery Weatherfield women could be her perfect match. During Monday’s (March 11) episode, Carla Connor (Alison King) headed to the station to find out why the police weren’t investigating Lauren’s disappearance.
The scenes with Carla and DS Swain sent tongues waging. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “I reckon Swain and Carla will find Lauren and then enter into a lesbian relationship with each other.” Another added: “Swain investigating Lauren’s disappearance, which means she will be seeing more of Carla. We all know where this is going.” A third person said: “Possible romances for DS Swain : Carla Toyah Tracy Alya Jenny.”
Vicky also went on to share her hopes for her career-driven character and how viewers will get a glimpse behind her hard exterior in the coming weeks. Vicky went on: “I did my homework a couple of years ago and I wanted to build this character that portrays and embodies everything about the North and about Weatherfield.
“It’s almost in a matriarchal sense that she wants to continue going on in the career that she’s chosen. But I also [want to] display that she’s a single working mum and the stress and pressures that that creates and also the dynamic with a child. How does the child feel about all this? So for me, I’m so happy to be here.”
