Coronation Street fans call out massive blunder as Steve McDonald catches wife Tracy Barlow cheating
Steve arrived back from his trip to France to surprise his wife, not realising she has hooked up with his idol.
CORONATION Street fans have called out a massive blunder as Steve McDonald ‘caught’ wife Tracy Barlow cheating.
The ITV soap loves an affair and this time it’s the turn of Tracy (Kate Ford) and newly returned Tommy Orpington.
Tommy – played by Matt Milburn – returned to Weatherfield just after Christmas, with the former local footballer now working as a painter and decorator.
Steve and Tracy hired him to decorate their bedroom before Steve headed off on a work trip to Paris.
But while he’s been away, sparks have flown between Tracy and Tommy, with the pair embarking on a steamy affair.
However, in the latest episode, Steve returned home from France a day early to surprise his wife.
Unsuspecting Tracy had told Tommy to come to the Florists with his decorating invoice, and after putting the ‘closed’ sign on the door, the pair were soon snogging.
But when Steve headed over to the shop, he was perplexed to see it closed – especially has he had spotted his wife’s handbag on the table.
Little did he know that Tracy and Tommy were hiding behind the counter, but after he called out her name, she sheepishly came and opened the door, with her lover behind her.
However, Steve – who idolises Tommy – didn’t seem any the wiser and ended up inviting him along to the romantic buffet he had organised for Tracy.
However, Coronation Street viewers were baffled by how Steve couldn’t spot the obvious clues his wife was playing away with the former footballer.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “It’s obvious that Tracy and Tommy fancy each other!”
Another added: “Tommy should have stayed hidden and Tracy should have said he was in the loo.”
A third tweeted: “B****y hell. Well, that doesn’t look dodgy, does it? Tracy and Tommy getting up from behind the counter IN FRONT of Steve! Poor guy.”
A fellow viewer commented: “If Steve doesn’t catch on what’s going on there, they couldn’t have made that more obvious.”
