Coronation Street fans are desperate to know what has happened to Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) following her disappearance several weeks ago.
After investigating, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) thought she had got to the bottom of the case when she arrested Roy Cropper (David Neilson), after he cleaned up Lauren’s flat.
Poor Roy’s arrest went viral online, and he has since been targeted by friends of Lauren’s dad Reece.
Luckily, Carla Connor and Nick Tilsley (Alison King and Ben Price) swept in to save him, and they soon headed off to report the incident to police.
However, fans have noticed a strange man lurking in the background of these scenes, taking pictures and videos of the café owner and listening into his conversations, and they think they know who he is.
He first appeared in the café waiting for his breakfast, where he was clearly trying to get the lowdown on Roy’s situation.
Then, he was spotted at the police station taking discreet photos of Roy, before also attending Lauren’s vigil and recording the event.
Viewers will remember that Lauren had a mystery boyfriend that we never got to see, who supposedly gave her money and extravagant gifts.
Though they have since broken up, some fans suspect that he may be behind her disappearance.
Twitter/X user JillyGee wondered if the man in the café was Lauren’s mystery boyfriend, while Peter Brown suggested that the ‘dodgy looking man’ may be an undercover police officer.
No one knows what has happened to Lauren, or whether she is still alive, though there have been plenty of theories floating around the internet.
So far, Roy and Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) have faced scrutiny from police, but fans have also suggested involvement from previous villains Rob Donovan, Nathan Curtis and some of Lauren’s far right connections.
