Coronation Street fans say ‘it’s hard to believe’ as they notice change to character
Coronation Street fans have confessed they’re finding it “hard to believe” that Clayton Hibbs is Shona Platt’s son following his surprising comeback to the ITV soap this week.
David Platt, played by Jack P Shepherd, recently got an email from Weatherfield Prison Services and was seen reaching for a letter when his wife Shona, portrayed by Julia Golding, walked in and halted him.
In Monday’s episode, dated November 11, David confided in his brother Nick Tilsley, played by Ben Price, about the visiting order he received from Clayton, acted by Callum Harrison.
Nick advised David to be truthful with Shona as she will inevitably find out the truth, leading David to concoct a plan.
David later visited Clayton in prison, but it’s still unclear whether he’ll reveal this to Shona. As fans tuned into the latest episode, some were distracted by Clayton’s appearance as the actor seemed to look entirely different, leading some to question if the character had been recast.
One fan took to Reddit and wrote: “We saw David visit Shona’s son Clayton in prison today and all I can think about is why does he look older than David? ! Not sure if it’s the same actor as before but if it is then damn prison has aged him.
Also, wonder what this important thing he wants to talk to Shona about, unless he just wants to make amends.”, reports Lancs Live.
Fans are scratching their heads in confusion, with one fan posting online: “Does anyone know how old Clayton is supposed to be? He looks mid to late 20s but how old would that make Shona? She was talking about having a baby with David so obviously she’s still of child bearing age so early 40s max (although she looks way younger).”
Another baffled viewer quipped: “Clayton looks older than Shona does. I have a hard time believing he is her son.” In upcoming scenes, David is left reeling when he finds his missus all worked up after the fuzz drop by, revealing Clayton’s landed himself in hospital.
But with fans already clued-in on Clayton’s past, which includes stabbing David’s other half Kylie Platt (played by the fab Paula Lane) back in the grisly summer of 2016, resulting in him being banged up for anywhere between 15 years to life, what’s the latest drama and will Shona get to the bottom of it?
