Coronation Street favourite Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) was caught out in a lie in recent scenes, by none other than suspicious detective Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
Dee-Dee has come under questioning from Kit several times since Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) murder, and this week she told him that she was heading into town to do some shopping.
However, in tonight’s episode, Joel’s dad Gus arrived to speak to her, and it became clear that she had lied about her whereabouts and instead gone to Joel’s funeral.
This instantly sparked suspicion for Kit, who listened intently as Dee-Dee answered Gus’ questions about why she was there.
Dee-Dee insisted that she had gone because her faith encouraged forgiveness, but Kit was sceptical.
Viewers will know that things ended badly between engaged couple Dee-Dee and Joel, after the true extent of his crimes was revealed.
After learning about how he’d groomed and attacked Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), Dee-Dee teamed up with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) to try and bring him down.
When Joel failed to appear in court for his plea hearing after being charged for drugging Lauren in an attempt to harm her son Frankie, Dee-Dee was furious, so it is no wonder that Kit didn’t buy her excuse.
Later, he confronted her in the Rovers about why she’d lied, and what her true motivations were.
He insisted that he didn’t believe she would go to the funeral of an ex who was a serial abuser, even if her religion did believe in forgiveness.
Dee-Dee was offended, but eventually relented and revealed the true reason she went.
She explained that she wanted the satisfaction of seeing him lowered into the ground and to know that that part of her life was buried forever.
She then demanded that any further questions Kit had should be asked on the record, to which he agreed.
Is Kit satisfied with her response, or is he only more suspicious that she may be involved in Joel’s death?
