Coronation Street Joel Deering’s next victim ‘sealed’ in terrifying twist – and it’s not Bethany
Coronation Street seem to be setting up Joel Deering to walk away scot free for what he did to Lauren Bolton after Nathan Curtis was arrested, but could someone risk their life getting in the way of that?
Coronation Street aired some more shocking scenes this evening – after the fallout from the big reveal about Joel Deering.
Joel has been unmasked as the person who attacked, and potentially killed, Lauren Bolton. Roy Cropper had been arrested for the crime, but we know he is completely innocent – and we also know evil Nathan Curtis is also innocent of this crime too.
Today, Bethany Platt headed to speak to a young girl called Ellie who had been attacked by a man that she assumed was Lauren. She met with Bethany, who showed her a photo of Nathan and she confirmed it was him who attacked her.
However, it was soon revealed that Joel had been hiding in the bedroom and had paid her to say what he wanted her to. He is also representing Nathan and has urged Nathan to confess to the crime, despite professing he is innocent.
Whilst Bethany seems a likely target for Joel, given that she is desperate to investigate and find out more about Nathan’s involvement with the young girl called Ellie and also what happened to Lauren. However, another resident could well be at risk with all that is going on. It mustn’t be forgotten that Joel is going to continue going to extreme lengths to protect his secret, but could Dee-Dee be at risk, given how close she is to Joel? If things start unfurling for him, will she cotton onto the truth?
Speaking about what’s to come, Calum Lill – who plays Joel – teased what his character’s next steps will be.
“I think he’s trying to work out how many loose ends there could be and how to deal with them. Obviously as a defence solicitor he knows how to play the game and knows that there is reasonable doubt and that he needs to cancel out anything that could be tied down to him. But you know, this is new territory for him,” he said.
“He might have been in a situation before where he’s broken the law and not treated people very nicely. But this is new and I think he feels real concern. He has to make it stick on Nathan so no one ever suspects it could be Joel.”
