Coronation Street Joel Deernig’s killer ‘rumbled’ as sudden exit sparks speculation
Coronation Street fans are convinced they've worked out who killed Joel Deering last month after the solicitor's body was found - but the murderer has already left Weatherfield
Coronation Street viewers believe they’ve cracked the case of who murdered Joel Deering last month.
Sinister solicitor Joel (played by Calum Lill) was found dead in recent episodes of the ITV soap, just as it seemed he was about to face justice for his crimes, which included grooming young girls like vulenrable Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
However, Joel didn’t appear at his plea hearing at the end of last month, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest. After transferring money to both Lauren and his ex-wife Emily, there were suspicions that Joel may have taken his own life.
His body was later discovered in the river, but a post-mortem examination revealed that Joel was already dead before he hit the water, sparking a murder investigation. The police have been working tirelessly to uncover who is responsible for Joel’s death and have already questioned Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan).
Mason was spotted disposing of a crowbar, the same weapon used to kill Joel, by police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), making him a prime suspect despite his insistence that the crowbar was given to him by his brother.
However, fans are speculating that Stu Carpenter (Bill Felows) could be the real killer. The Speed Daal employee was determined to keep troubled teen Mason on the straight and narrow, but after a disagreement with Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King), he decided to leave Weatherfield and start afresh in Germany with his granddaughter, reports Plymouth Live.
Corrie fans have been airing their theories on a Facebook group dedicated to the soap, with one viewer suggesting: “I think Stu did it. He handled Mason’s crow bar and he disappeared and went to Germany very very quickly.
“I don’t think it was Dee Dee. It is too obvious that it is her. I think there’s a twist and It’s Stu Carpenter. I think he finished Joel off to save Mason.” Another chimed in with support: “You might be right. I also don’t think Stu went to Germany. He’s gone walkabout.” Meanwhile, a third fan simply commented: “Interesting.”
