Coronation Street kicks off steamy affair storyline with shock kitchen romp
The saucy scenes are a new territory for one of the soap's stars
CORONATION Street has kicked off its steamy new affair with a kitchen romp for Tracy Barlow and Tommy Orpington.
The florist – who is played by actress Kate Ford in the ITV soap – gave into temptation tonight and seduced Tommy.
The illicit pair romped in the house, narrowly missing being caught by Tracy’s dad Ken Barlow.
And while Tracy didn’t seem to care, Tommy felt bad for her husband Steve McDonald who is away in France.
However the steamy scenes have not been easy for actress Kate.
She told the Sunday People: “It’s not easy turning on Tracy’s sexy side – that’s difficult for a 46-year-old woman. I’ve got to be honest, I think that’s a lot less challenging to play in your 30s.
“I’m trying not to be too vampy with it, because that would be a bit too much.”
And she opened up about finally having a meaty storyline for herself after a quiet few years.
“I haven’t had a storyline as meaty as this for quite a long time,” she added.
“Me and Simon haven’t done any kissing scenes for about 10 years, so I was a bit nervous. There’s that initial thing of, ‘Oh, gosh, I’ve only known this person for five days, this is quite strange.’
“Once you’ve done it then you feel OK but I’ve had to come out of my comfort zone a little.”
The storyline, which has recently kicked off, has seen Matt Milburn return to the soap as the former footballer.
He has been seen on and off since 2016 as the character but has finally landed an extended stay on the cobbles for the racy plot.
Matt said recently: “I was absolutely thrilled and over the moon, because it’s something I’ve wanted for years.
“I’ve played Tommy intermittently since 2016 so to be told that I was going to be coming back and given something far more substantial, I was delighted.
“Tommy is the perfect character for me to play because I love football and he’s a famous northern footballer. It’s great to be back!”
And he spoke about Tommy’s lust for Tracy in the storyline: “I think he likes her sparky nature, her quick retorts and her banter is very sharp.
“He likes being kept on his toes. She’s not an easy target in many ways. I just think that they seem to have this chemistry between them that none of them see coming.”
