Coronation Street legend rules himself out as suspect in teen murder – but it’s not Roy Cropper
As it stands, the main suspects in Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder investigation in Coronation Street are Roy Cropper (David Neilson) and Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
Roy is currently spending time behind bars for the crime – despite the fact we know he had no involvement in Lauren going missing.
In tonight’s (April 19) episode of the ITV soap, focus turned back to Daniel. Eyes are on him due to the amount of time he spent with Lauren prior to her disappearance, as well as the trouble he found himself in a few years ago with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby).
When topic of conversation turned to the prospect of Lauren making money through sex work, Daniel decided to meet up with old friend Nicky (Kimberly Hart Simpson) at the precinct.
As they chatted, Daniel remained unaware Max (Paddy Bever) and Bobby (Jack Carroll) were watching their exchange.
When Max recognised Nicky, he got his phone out to take pictures, adamant it would be good evidence for DS Swain (Vicky Myers).
It wasn’t long until Swain was back at Daniel’s flat to discuss the fact he was seen with two sex workers.
When he returned, he updated Bethany (Lucy Fallon).
Daniel told her that as far as Swain is concerned, it’s a ‘two horse race’ between him and Roy. He said that he absolutely knows he had no involvement in Lauren’s ‘murder’, which only leaves them with one person.
But the problem? We know Roy is innocent, which means DS Swain isn’t going to close this case anytime soon.
Before the credits rolled, we saw Roy in his cell experiencing flashbacks of Lauren in the cafe.
As time ticks away, if Roy can’t be saved by someone else, will remembering the moments before Lauren vanished prove to be the thing that changes everything?
