Coronation Street releases special scene after Roy Cropper murder charge
ITV News created a special report on Roy's arrest.
Coronation Street has released a special scene after Roy Cropper was arrested and charged for the murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton.
Following tonight’s (April 12) episode, Coronation Street shared a video on X which featured ITV News reporter Lucy Meacock reporting on the arrest of fan-favourite Roy as if it were a real case.
“We start with breaking news, in a shock development a local cafe owner has been charged with the murder of the missing Weatherfield teenager Lauren Bolton,” Meacock began in the clip.
“Mr Cropper was arrested and taken in for questioning today, before being charged with the teenager’s murder.”
She added: “He was remanded in custody ahead of Monday’s court hearing.”
Recent episodes have seen Roy become the prime suspect in the investigation of Lauren’s disappearance (and suspected murder) after being the last person to see her alive in Weatherfield.
He stirred further suspicion by cleaning out the teenager’s flat after she left, with police refusing to believe the innocent explanation for his actions.
Things are only set to get worse for Roy as well, as scenes airing next week will see the cafe owner face time behind bars after he is refused bail and ordered to remain in custody until his upcoming trial takes place.
Meanwhile, the soap is also set to bring back another villain who could potentially be involved in Lauren’s disappearance.
According to reports in the The Sun, former cast member Christopher Harper is set to reprise his role as abuser Nathan in an upcoming storyline involving Bethany Platt, who he previously groomed as part of a sex trafficking scheme.
It’s yet to be confirmed whether or not Nathan will be involved in Lauren’s disappearance, however the timing of his return would be interesting given the current storyline.
