Coronation Street residents gobsmacked at Alina Pop’s baby twist as reveal shocks street

Coronation Street fans were all saying the same thing as Alina Pop’s baby made his on-screen debut. Alina (Ruxandra Porojnicu) surprised viewers with her unexpected return to the soap this week.

The character first graced the cobbles in 2019 and has had two stints on the popular show.

She was last seen in September 2021, when she decided to return to Romania while pregnant. At that time, she had told her then-boyfriend Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) that she wasn’t actually expecting.

However, just before her flight, viewers saw her at the airport departures lounge, cradling her growing baby bump.

This week, Alina was back in Weatherfield, and was spotted by Fiz. A confrontation ensued, leaving Fiz shocked to discover Alina had a son, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Fiz eventually confessed to Tyrone about seeing Alina and her son, urging him to find Alina himself. But when he arrived, he was informed she’d already checked out.

In Friday’s episode (August 9), Tyrone’s mum Cassie (Claire Sweeney) stepped in to extract the truth from Alina. In the taxi office, Cassie received a call from Alina requesting a cab for her and her son.

Cassie took it upon herself to pick them up – but Alina was unaware she was being taken to the cobbles. Upon realising where she was, Alina demanded Cassie to turn around – only to be met with a stunned Tyrone.

Alina had her back against the wall and spilled the beans to Tyrone he’s the dad of her little one. The tot made quite the splash on-screen, with fans quickly noting his resemblance to Tyrone.

One viewer tweeted: “The baby looks more like Tyrone than Tyrone himself.” While another fan posted: “They couldn’t have gotten a baby to look more like Tyrone if they tried, absolute spit.”

Yet another chimed in with: “It’s mini Tyrone,” as someone else exclaimed: “OMG this kid is the spit of Tyrone.”
