Coronation Street reveals another shock suspect in Lauren Bolton’s murder
An arrest is made for Lauren's murder.
POLICE have reason to believe that Lauren Bolton could have been killed as they find new evidence in her flat.
Two suspects are brought into the police station for questioning in Coronation Street but only one of them gets arrested.
Wayward teen Lauren Bolton (portrayed by Cait Fitton) is at the core of a new storyline after she was sacked from popular Weatherfield café Roy’s Rolls.
Lauren made the decision to leave the cobbles for a fresh start with the rest of her wages, which were hand-delivered to her by Roy (David Neilson) himself.
Shortly after, Lauren’s new love interest Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) walked into her abandoned flat and realised she had already gone.
Bobby’s concerns grew for Lauren and he eventually reported her missing to the local police.
Meanwhile, Roy has displayed suspicious behaviour as he was caught by Bobby cleaning Lauren’s flat, therefore wiping out any evidence that could have been used to figure out what happened to her.
But another resident in the cobbles is approached by the authorities as the search for Lauren continues – and the police are expecting to find a dead body.
Coming up on ITV, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) confides in his father Ken Barlow (William Roache) that he hasn’t slept a wink, fearing he’ll be banged up for a murder he didn’t commit.
Daniel once tutored Lauren as she was trying to get her life back on track and make something of herself.
However, the teacher and journalist recently found out through his ex-fiancée Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) that Lauren had only grown closer to Daniel in a bid to blackmail her and her then-illicit lover Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).
Could Daniel’s bruised ego have led him to do something to Lauren to get revenge?
As mentioned above, the police find evidence that could confirm Lauren was killed off-screen.
Bobby suggests Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) should think about renting Lauren’s old flat.
However, Sean says he saw what looked like blood on the curtains, leading Carla Connor (Alison King) and Bobby straight to the police station where they tell DS Swain everything.
This prompts her and Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) to let themselves into Lauren’s flat and survey the extent of the blood stains.
Later on, Bobby tells them about her relationship with Roy, how he gave her a job, found her somewhere to live and cleaned up the mess in the flat after she left.
DS Swain decides who her main suspect will be and heads to the café to question Roy Cropper.
Elsewhere, it becomes clear that Roy is getting trolled online and Carla is forced to show him the vile comments.
Max Turner (Paddy Bever), on the other hand, wants to do another appeal but Carla and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) warn Roy not to do the appeal as it’ll only invite further unwanted attention.
Suzi from the Gazette then arrives at the café hoping to record a fresh appeal.
But they’re interrupted by the arrival of DS Swain who tells Roy she’s arresting him on suspicion of the murder of Lauren Bolton.
Carla and Nina watch in horror as Roy is led away and the video of his arrest is posted online.
Is everything as it seems?
Has Roy really killed Lauren?
Prior to her vanishing, Lauren encountered her persistent ex-boyfriend who was proven to be dangerous as she’d been seen with bruises all over her arms.
Could the police figure out who the stranger is?
Is Lauren even really dead?
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
