Coronation Street reveals Simon Barlow’s exit storyline – featuring a major reunion

CORONATION Street has revealed Simon Barlow’s exit after 16 years.
The troubled teenager – who is played by actor Alex Bain in the ITV soap – is being lured into the same cult that mum Leanne Battersby has fallen prey to.
But while Leanne is being drawn in, in tonight’s episode Simon’s stepdad and aunt took action to save him from the same fate.
Realising that Simon could be even more vulnerable than Leanne, Nick and Toyah decided to act – and called Peter to fill him in.
And he had a surprising solution to the problem and reached out to Simon himself.
Opening up to Toyah, Simon told her: “My dad’s offered me a job out there with him. It’s good if it’s real but I don’t know if it will be after last time.
“I don’t know what to do. Part of me wants to go to this retreat but if this job is real then of course I’m interested. What if he’s only doing it because Nick told him?”
Toyah tried to reassure him that Peter doesn’t need an excuse to spend time with him and it seems it helped.
When Rowan turned up to take Simon to the cult’s retreat, Toyah was there to give him the bad news.
“I didn’t mean to mess you around but I was going to text,” Simon added forcing Rowan to put on a brave face.
“Not at all, I want what’s best for you, no matter what that is,” the creepy leader said through gritted teeth.
Simon told him: “I’ve got a job with my dad, he’s working abroad at the moment.”
Nick then added: “We thought it was best for Simon, to travel the world and be with someone who’s got his best interests at heart.”
He then asked Rowan to tell Leanne what was happening so she would be able to say goodbye to Simon when he leaves.
But the cult leader replied with a veiled threat, telling Nick and Toyah: “I’m so glad she’s with us, I’m sure she’s going to be open to everything we have to offer.”
